Baker's Buzz

I will have a section where I post my weekly newsletter, called Baker's Buzz. This newsletter will have the current week's learning goals, daily specials, a link to our photo stream, and upcoming dates. The very first Baker's Buzz document I will post will actually be a "Meet Your Teacher" letter. I will send this letter to my new students and famliies about a week before all of our Back to School activities begin. Here is a section of that letter, shared from my Google Drive:

Hello! My name is Mrs. Baker and I am so excited to be your kindergarten teacher this year! We are going to learn and have so much FUN! Since we will be spending lots of time together I wanted to tell you more about me! I am married to my high school sweetheart, Matt, and we have three boys. Their names are Zane, Mason, and Bryce. This will be my 20th year of teaching. I have taught Kindergarten (my very favorite), First Grade, and Fourth Grade. This will be my 17th year teaching Kindergarten at Graden! I can’t wait to spend the year with you and make it the BEST one ever!

Extending Learning At Home

Another section on my site will be suggestions for what parents can do to support and extend learning at home. Some of the suggestions I will include in this section are:

• Read every day for 10-30 minutes
• Discuss the characters, setting, and events in the stories you read
• Write in a journal
• Make a grocery list and go shopping together
• Cook together: Read recipes, measure, take turns
• Sort, count, and add your toys
• Play a game as a family
• Go to Starfall to practice letters, sounds, and reading
• Use our class Symbaloo for lots of learning games and activities
